Ivan Gazidis makes major announcement ahead of next season

As part of preparation for any upcoming season and to the keep players fit, Arsenal are usually involved in the Emirates Cup and the club has announced that the competition will hold this summer, this report is according to Arsenal official site.

Arsenal have been the host of the tournament and the biggest winners thus far but failure of the competition to hold last summer stemmed from reconstruction work at the Emirates and the Euro 2016 Championship, which affect the return dates of players involved.

We had teams like Inter Milan graced the tournament in previous years but this summer, Benfica, Sevilla and RB Leipzig are the teams expected to be involved in the preseason tournament. This showdown between the team is scheduled to take place between July 29 and 30.

Confirming the return of the competition, Arsenal’s Chief Executive member said:

“We’re all delighted to once again be hosting the Emirates Cup this summer.

“Every year we have staged the competition, the Emirates Cup has been hugely successful and a thoroughly enjoyable weekend of football.

“Benfica, Sevilla and Leipzig are three strong clubs, with good players, who will not only hopefully produce some exciting football, but also provide us with high quality preparation ahead of the new season.”

The fixture of the tournament will see Leipzig take on Sevilla while Arsenal play Portuguese side Benfica on the 29th of July. Meanwhile the following day 30th July will have Benfica play Leipzig and then Arsenal will lock horns with Sevilla to bring the competition to a close.

The Emirates Cup was instituted in the summer of 2007 and high profile teams not restricting Boca Juniors and Real Madrid have participated in the competition but we have won it four times, we won it in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

Part of our preseason games will include games tours in Australia and China and then we’ll also play Bayern Munich.
