Manchester United are looking to secure the future of quite a number of their star players and the list includes Daley Blind and Ashley Young, whose contract have been extended by a year, according to reports.
The aforementioned duo are in the final year of their current contracts but they have a clause that Man United triggered and they will now remain at the fortress of Old Trafford until the summer of 2019.
Blind joined Manchester United under the auspcies of Luis Van Gaal with the pedigree of a versatile star but since the appointment of Jose Mourinho, the Dutch star has remained as a fringe player at the Club as a result of the injuries he’s picked up.
The 27-year-old star was tipped to join Roma in the January transfer window as replacement for Chelsea star Emerson Palmieiri, but the deal fell through. It appears that Mourinho is not finished with the star and wants him at the Club.
Meanwhile, Young is a favourite for Mourinho, who has had troubles picking a player for the left back position. The England star was injured at the star of the season but he has stake a claim in the first team of the Special One. He wanted a longer contract to be offered to him but he has to continue proving himself as it is given that he may have surpassed the twilight of his career.
Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Juan Mata’s contracts extension were also triggered by a year and so, Mourinho will not have any team headache.
