Arsenal could get another midfielder in the summer as they plan to complement their current quality at the center of the pitch. Despite having Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Alex Iwobi, Arsene Wenger is still hoping to add Kerem Demirbay to his squad in the summer.
According to Sport Bild, Arsenal are set to trigger the player’s release clause of €28million which was in his recently signed contract extension with the Bundesliga side.
The 24-year-old Germany international is one of the most consistent performers in the German League this season, and he’s an important player in Julian Nagelsmann’s team. He could be on his way to the Emirates stadium as Arsenal have reportedly told the player’s agent that they are willing and ready to get him irrespective of his price tag.
Demirbay joined the Die Kraichgauer from Hamburg for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2016. He has been directly involved in six goals so far this season—two goals and four assists— having started 16 matches from a possible 25.
It is yet to be seen if the player will agree to join the Gunners due to the intense competition among players which have seen former record-signing Lacazette fizzled out of Wenger’s starting lineup in recent matches.
