Icardi is on the verge of joining Chelsea for a deal purportedly worth £100m(€112m)despite offer from Real Madrid who are looking for the solution to their goal scoring problems, per reports.

Chelsea are eager to spend the profit made from Diego Costa’s sale to Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window and they are looking to sign Icardi in his stead albeit to compliment the effort of Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has instructed Antonio Conte to buy an attacking player that can score goals at ease to complement the two available central forwards — Alvaro Morata and Mitchi Batchuayi.

After winning the English Premier league trophy last season, Conte will be hoping to achieve the same  success or even move a step further by winning the UEFA champions league. To achieve this dream, the Italian manager must get a very strong player, who is capable of winning matches on his own and finally, a player that will help increase team spirit on and off the pitch.

Icardi, to Conte is a player with all of these traits, and he’s ready to do anything possible to capture his service as soon as the winter transfer window opens. He has scored 11 goals in 12 league appearances for his club.

Chelsea currently sit on the fourth position on the English Premier league standings, while they remain second in group D of the UEFA hampions league competition behind Italian giantsRoma.
