A club has shown interest in Marouane Fellaini by sending scouts to watch the Belgian midfielder during United’s loss at Stamford Bridge.
Besiktas official Metin Albayrak has revealed that the Turkish giants are looking to sign Manchester United midfield maestro, Fellaini. He confirmed that the Belgian footballer is on their transfer shortlist.
The current champions of the Super Lig have included Marouane Fellaini as one of the 20 players they are scouting among numerous others they are looking forward to bring in.
The midfielder has less than 12 months to the expiration of his contract. United have the option to trigger a 12 month extension. However, it is not clear if the player will stay beyond this season, especially if a good offer is tabled.
Even if the option is triggered, his future remains dim at the club. Despite being one of Jose Mourinho’s favourite players, the Belgium international is yet to gain the hearts of the Old Trafford faithful.
This is not the first time Fellaini is being targeted by a Turkish side. During Galatasaray’s move for the player, Mourinho was quoted saying, “It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than to get Marouane.” Such is Mourinho’s fondness for Fellaini.
Besiktas have won the Super Lig for two consecutive seasons, and they top their Champions’ League group with 10 points.
Signing a midfielder who is loved by Mourinho and has scored four goals with an assist will be a win-win for both club and player if United decide to part with Marouane.
