Arsenal are being linked with a move for several attacking players whom they see as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez replacements. The latest player who is being linked with a move to the Emirates stadium is one of Barcelona’s fringe players Rafinha, per reports.
Rafinha is a product of the famed Barcelona academy La Masia. He was promoted to the senior team four seasons ago, but hasn’t made more than 80 appearances for the Blaugranas since his debut match against Elche in 2014. His progress has been halted due to his injury-prone nature.
Catalan newspaper Sport reports that Arsenal are considering making a move for the player who can comfortably fill in the void that could be created by Mesut Ozil should the playmaker leave Arsenal by January.
Tottenham are also interested in the player’s services. Mauricio Pochettino wants to add the Brazilian central midfielder to his team as a long-term replacement for Moussa Dembele who might be forced to retire due to his injury problems.
Rafinha has been tipped by Tottenham fans to be a great addition to the team who are vying for the Premier League’s fourth position.
Though he might not be as physically fit as Dembele, Rafinha will definitely add quality to Tottenham’s attacking threat if given the chance to take charge of their midfield position.
The Telegraph last week reported that Pochettino is also keeping a close eye on Barca’s Andre Gomes. This could be a case whereby Tottenham are trying to raid Barcelona of their midfielders.
