Chelsea are reportedly in a battle with Manchester United for the services of Roma defender Alessandro Florenzi in the summer. The right wing back position has been a major concern to Manchester United manager and the Portuguese manager hopes to find a lasting solution in the summer.
Matteo Darmian who was meant to occupy the position has been unable to establish himself as a reliable right-back since his move to Old Trafford.
In his bid to bolster the right and left wing back positions during last transfer market, José Mourinho contacted Tottenham’s Danny Rose but he couldn’t acquire his services as Tottenham refused to let go of the England international despite not being in good terms with the player.
According to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, Alessandro Florenzi is highly rated by the Serie A side, therefore, they will not sanction his move to either club if the offer doesn’t equal his perceived value.
Florenzi has been a rock at the back for Eusebio Di Francesco’s team, and he could be prevented from leaving by Roma’s hierarchy due to his solid display at the back of the pitch since the start of the season.
Florenzi’s versatility will surely be an advantage to José Mourinho who is in dire need of a center midfielder in the summer as veteran midfielder Michael Carrick is reportedly set to end his career. Florenzi has appeared in the middle of the park for the La Magical this season where he performed brilliantly by linking-up play with the forwards.
