Another weekend of Premier League football is barely 72 hours away but Manchester United have arrived Spain to take on Celta Vigo in the Europa Cup semi-final first leg.
United’s fate for Champions League qualification is not only hinged on how they end their Premier League season, but we’ll get automatic qualification if we clinch this title. Should United win the Europa Cup, they’ll join Chelsea, Juventus, Ajax and Bayern Munich in a League of five clubs that have won all three major European competitions.
Mourinho had a team decimated as a result of injuries but recent report by the Sun indicated that the Red Devils have been boosted by the return to training of four key players which includes Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phill Jones and Paul Pogba.
Jones and Smalling have been out of the squad since the last interlull, as they sustained injuries while representing the Three Lions, while Bailly was taken off United’s draw against Swansea last weekend. Pogba sat out the last two games for United as a result of dead legs but the return of the aforementioned quartet will now provide options for Mourinho in midfield and defense.
Among the returnees, Baily and Pogba are the stars that are most likely to be handed a starting berth. Smalling and Jones are on their way to fitness and it will only be risky starting them. They will be useful and available for our run-in that wraps of this season.
