Arsene Wenger sends message to Liverpool prime target ahead of transfer window

Despite the capitulation of Arsenal in the Premier League, there seem to be some positives to be taken out of this season. Alexis Sanchez have been dubbed as the beast of Arsenal, you cannot but have noticed the improvement of England international Alex Oxlade Chamberlain too.

The 23-year-old started the season slowly, playing second fiddle to the likes of Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott but his resurgence in Arsene Wenger’s new formation has seen him taken the place of Walcott and Bellerin on the right flank at the same time.

Chamberlain is in the final 12-months of his contract but has stalled over a new deal. According to report by the Metro, Wenger has urged the workaholic winger to sign a new deal as he is pleased with his improvement.

Sometime last month, Chamberlain appeared in the transfer radar of Liverpool per this report, and it is believed that Liverpool’s interest in the player stemmed from his inability to play consistently for Arsenal. The prospect of the attacker leaving the Emirates for Anfield is now reduced as he may have stamped his place as a first team player with Arsenal.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal crunch tie with Man United this weekend, Wenger was quizzed about Chamberlain and he said:

‘His performances have been convincing and positive,’ he looks like he’s made a move forward, I’m pleased with him.

‘I believe that he’s happy in his new position at the moment he’s convinced that he has all the qualities to play there and it’s given him confidence.

He has to commit his future to the club and hopefully he’ll do so in the summer.’

Arsenal are currently experiencing their worst spell under Arsene Wenger over the last decade. The future of so many players including Chamberlain have been tied to Wenger’s, who is yet to let the cat out of the bag over his own future.
