Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is highly respected in the world of Club football for the number of trophies he has led different clubs to winning and he has mainly achieved this feat through heavy spending in the transfer window.
Since joining Manchester United in the summer of 2016, the Portuguese tactician has spent the excess of €300million to fortify his squad but shockingly, the right back position has been on area that he is yet to sign a player and there is apparent need for an option to Antonio Valencia.
I know you’d mention Matteo Darmian but the Italian remains only a favourite for Luis Van Gaal and not Jose Mourinhio. He is bound to exit the fortress of Old Trafford at the end of this season but no worries as an ideal replacement has been identified for Antonio Valencia.
Step forward Timothy Fosu-Mensah – the Dutch versatile defender broke into the scene of football as a full back under Van Gaal and he has continued to grow from strength to strength with London Club Crystal Palace. While with the Youth set up with United, he was predominantly a centre-back and DM but he has impressed at Selhurst Park as a right full back.
The 20-year-old Dutch defender put up a man of the match performance against Manchester City in the League as he was found in the right position, with accurate tackling which nullified the threats of the likes of Leroy Sane and Bernado Silva – i’m certain for sure that Mourinho has noticed the star and will be pleased to have him next season.
The ability of Fosu-Mensah to play in various positions is one that will greatly appeal to Mourinho and the money budgeted to sign a right back could not be channeled to another use.
