Manchester United have advanced talks with Seria A side Inter Milan over a potential move for Croatian winger Ivan Perisic, this is according to reports.
Jose Mourinho signed three players in the transfer window of last summer against the four he wanted – Perisic was the fourth player linked with a move to Man United but despite the offers made for him, Inter Milan held on to him.
Perisic was on song for Croatia as they knocked the Three Lions out of the World Cup on Wednesday, and his barnstorming display has got United reignite their interest in him. Croatia came from behind the beat England and Perisic scored the first goal before troubling the back-line of Gareth Southgate men.
He earned plaudits from Mourinho following his show-off against England, as the Portuguese manager revealed what he brings to a team.
‘Perisic is the kind of winger that is different to the others,’ Mourinho told RT.
“Normally you look at wingers and they are just fast and creative. But he is also physical, very physical. Fantastic in the air.
“So the way he wins that ball in the air [for Mandzukic’s goal] and puts the ball into that space is only possible if you are very, very physical and dominant over defenders.”
And now, according to Paris United, United are currently in talks to sign the winger and his agent Fali Ramadani and Pini Zahavi are due in Manchester to finalise a move for him.
The 29-year-old star was key to Inter Milan’s qualification for the Champions league of next season – he scored 11 goals and assisted in 11, leading the San Siro outfit to ending the season in fourth place.
If this report is true, we may see the exit of Anthony Martial or Juan Mata.
Perisic is valued at £36.00m according to transfermarkt.
